Creedmoor Sports Granite Stand Basic Comparator Kit
The Granite Stand Basic Comparator Kit pairs the Granite Stand with all the tools needed to make base to make comparative base to Ogive Measurements. The kit includes either the Standard or Odd Ball Bullet Comparator, the Bullet Comparator Bar, the Granite Stand, and the 0-1in SPI Dial indicator.
Measuring base to ogive is the best way to check the consistency of your bullet seating depth. Cartridge Overall Length (C.O.L) is the metric specified by SAAMI it is also the metric that can very the most due to the variations on the bullet meplate. We still must check the COL in order to make sure it will reliable fit in and free from a magazine, however the Base to Ogive length is the measurement to make if you want to determine how consistent your bullet seating it.
When measured with Calipers the Base to Ogive will also help you understand how far off the lands you are seating your bullet as the Ogive measurement is typically made at the same diameter as the bore diameter.
