This is the two-die Redding Z Series Full Length Die Set for the .284 Winchester, Redding part number 89141. It is a die set, not a single die: it includes the Z Series full length sizing die (Redding #87141) and the Z Series bullet seating die (Redding #88141). The sizing die full length sizes the case body, shoulder and neck; the seating die seats bullets to depth. Redding also sells the sizing die, the seating die and a bushing-style full length sizing die (#86141) for the .284 Winchester individually.

About the Redding Z Series

Redding's Z Series dies use a larger 1" diameter die body in place of the traditional 7/8" die body that has been the industry standard since the post-WWII era. Redding's position is that today's high-performance cartridge designs tax the strength of a 7/8" die. Redding rates the 1" body as much as 2X stronger than a traditional 7/8" die, and its testing showed the added strength and rigidity gives noticeably reduced sizing effort and more consistent, measurable sized-case dimensions.

• Z Series dies are threaded 1"-14. They will not thread into a standard 7/8"-14 die station.
• They fit presses that have a removable die bushing with a 1-1/4"-12 opening (for example the Redding Big Boss II) using Redding's 1"-14 Die Bushing Adapter, item 70030, sold separately.
• For the Redding T-7 turret press, Redding offers Z Series turret heads: item 67073 (seven 1"-14 stations) and item 67034 (three 1"-14 stations plus four 7/8"-14 stations), sold separately.
• Lock ring for Z Series die bodies: Redding 1"-14 Series Z lock ring, item 01017.
