The Berger VLD Hunting bullet is one of the flattest shooting hunting bullets in the industry. VLD Hunting bullets are identical in design to VLD Target bullets except they use a thinner J4 Precision Hunting jacket for rapid expansion on game. VLD Hunting bullets are designed to penetrate 2-3" into the vitals and then expand, creating a wound cavity up to 15" for a quick, ethical kill.

VLD Hunting bullets use a secant ogive design, which gives the bullet less drag in flight. This reduced drag is why the VLD shoots flatter, drifts less in the wind and retains more velocity than conventional designs. A favorite loading technique for VLDs is seating them to touch the rifling for single-shot use, although some rifles prefer as much as .150" off the lands. Berger VLD Hunting bullets are extremely popular for long-range hunting and are built on the highly consistent J4 Precision jackets favored by custom bullet makers.
