Lapua Center-X is standard-velocity .22 LR match ammunition made in Schönebeck, Germany for smallbore and rimfire competition. It is the Lapua rimfire load most shooters start with when they move up from bulk or club-grade ammo: accurate enough to win at the local and regional level in position smallbore, benchrest, NRL22 and PRS-style rimfire matches, and consistent enough from lot to lot that you can test once and buy in quantity. Each round uses a 40 grain lead round nose bullet at 1,073 fps (327 m/s) measured from Lapua's 26" test barrel, which keeps it below the speed of sound for the whole flight so the bullet never crosses the transonic zone. That standard-velocity, subsonic profile is why Center-X groups well in match-chambered bolt guns and target pistols alike, and why it is popular with suppressed rimfire shooters.
